Maintenance and care of chains

Maintenance and care of the chain is vital to ensure its proper operation and prolonged service life. The following are some important maintenance and care measures:
- Sprocket installation Installation requirements: the sprocket should be mounted on the shaft smoothly to avoid skewing and swinging. Chain manufacturers require that the end faces of two sprockets in the same transmission assembly should be located in the same plane. Center distance deviation: For center distance below 0.5m, 1mm deviation is allowed; For center distance above 0.5m, a deviation of 2mm is allowed. Friction check: Make sure there is no friction phenomenon on the tooth side of the sprocket to avoid excessive offset leading to chain release and accelerated wear. When replacing the sprocket, the offset needs to be checked and adjusted.
- Chain tightness Appropriate tightness: the chain tightness should be moderate, too tight will increase power consumption and lead to bearing wear; too loose may lead to chain jumping and chain release. Tightness standard: Lift up or press down the middle of the chain, the change of the center distance of the sprocket should be about 2% to 3%.
- Chain Adjustment Chain length: If the new chain is too long or elongated after use, and it is difficult to adjust it, you can remove the chain links in an appropriate amount, which should be an even number. When removing the chain, the chain link should be passed from the back of the chain, with the locking piece facing outward and the opening of the locking piece facing the opposite direction of rotation.
- Sprocket and chain replacement Replacement at the same time: When the sprocket is severely worn, replace both the sprocket and chain with a new one to ensure good engagement. Replacing one side alone may result in poor engagement and accelerated wear. Flip-side use: After the sprocket used on the adjustable side is worn to a certain degree, it should be flipped-side use in time to prolong the use time.
- Avoid mixed use Separate the old and new chains: the old chain should not be mixed with the new chain to avoid impact and pulling off the chain in the transmission.
- Lubrication Timely refueling: the chain should be refueled with lubricant in time during the work to ensure that the lubricant enters into the matching gap between the roller and the inner sleeve to improve the working condition and reduce the wear.
- Other Precautions Check the running condition: Before starting the chain, check whether the chain is running normally and whether the tightness is suitable. Close the chain gate: close the chain gate before starting to prevent the chain from danger when starting. Loosen the chain gate before working to avoid damaging the bearings. Avoid friction: Make sure the chain does not rub against the ground or other objects when rotating. Anti-rust treatment: oil and apply anti-rust paint in time, if the chain is rusty, it should be replaced in time to improve the working efficiency. Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect and maintain the chain, and repair the broken chain or chain release in time and find out the reason. Through these maintenance measures, we can ensure the efficient operation and prolong the service life of the chain.
