Slag Rotary Dryer Overview

Slag rotary dryer is a kind of equipment specially used for drying slag and other materials. Through the rotating cylinder, wet materials are fully contacted with high-temperature hot air, utilizing heat to evaporate the moisture in the material and achieve efficient drying. Slag rotary dryer is widely used in iron and steel smelting, calcium carbide slag, limestone, river sand, quartz sand and other types of materials drying treatment.

Working Principle of Slag Rotary Dryer

  1. Charging and conveying: Slag is conveyed to the hopper via belt conveyor or bucket elevator, then enters the feeding end of the dryer. The feeding pipe is sloped greater than the natural inclination of the material, ensuring smooth entry into the dryer.
  2. Material drying process: The dryer’s cylinder is slightly tilted; material enters from the high end and contacts the heat carrier (such as hot air or flue gas) for heat exchange. As the cylinder rotates, the material moves along its inclination. Moisture evaporates as wet material contacts the hot airflow, and dried material is discharged from the discharge end.
  3. Heat transfer and material heating: Lifting plates on the inner wall of the cylinder lift and scatter the material, increasing its contact area with the airflow, thus improving the drying rate. After drying, the heat carrier carries dust and particles that are treated by cyclone dust collector, bag filter, or wet dust collector to reduce exhaust emissions.
