Working Principle of Lime Vertical Kiln

Lime vertical kiln mainly relies on the principle of countercurrent heat transfer in which the material moves downward from the top and the hot airflow rises upward from the bottom. Limestone from the top of the continuous accession, under the action of gravity slowly down to the calcining belt, decomposition reaction occurs at high temperatures.

The resulting calcium oxide continues down into the cooling belt and is discharged from the bottom, while the rising high-temperature flue gas passes through the limestone in the upper layer for preheating. This structure makes the heat energy effectively recovered and utilized in layers. In order to maintain the balance of the system, the kiln generally maintains a slightly negative pressure operation, which is conducive to controlling the distribution of airflow, avoiding the phenomenon of short-circuiting and reflux, and ensuring adequate and uniform calcination of lime.
