Kaolin Rotary Kiln Overview
Kaolin is a layered silicate mineral characterized by fine texture, high whiteness, good plasticity, high refractoriness and excellent electrical insulation properties. Uncalcined natural kaolin often contains certain organic impurities and water of crystallization, and the introduction of the calcination process can significantly improve its whiteness, activity and chemical stability, thus expanding its application in the industrial field.
Kaolin rotary kiln plays an important role in chemical ceramics, environmental protection new materials, high-grade paper and composite materials and other industries, is the core equipment to achieve high value-added utilization of kaolin resources.
Kaolin Rotary Kiln Features
- Modular structure design: the whole set of rotary kiln system consists of kiln body, transmission device, support device, burner, sealing device and automatic control system, reasonable structure, easy maintenance.
- High precision temperature control: with multi-stage temperature control system, can adjust the temperature distribution for different calcination stages to ensure the stability of product quality.
- High thermal efficiency: adopting high efficient combustion system and built-in heat exchange device, so that the heat energy can be effectively utilized.
- Strong sealing reliability: the sealing structure at both ends effectively reduces heat dissipation and dust leakage, and improves the level of environmental protection.
- High level of automation: equipped with PLC + touch screen control system, realizing real-time monitoring and intelligent adjustment of temperature, speed, gas and other parameters.
Advantages of Kaolin Rotary Kiln
- Excellent calcination quality: the rotary kiln can realize the slow and even heating of the material, so that the kaolin crystal structure changes sufficiently, enhance the whiteness and activity, suitable for the production of ultra-fine calcined kaolin.
- Strong continuous production capacity: the equipment is suitable for large-volume continuous operation, high production capacity, stable production rhythm, to adapt to the needs of industrialized scale.
- Outstanding environmental performance: equipped with exhaust gas treatment system, can effectively recover dust and heat, in line with national environmental standards.
- Strong adaptability: can handle different types of kaolin raw materials with different particle size and moisture content, and adapt to a variety of geological sources.
- Stable and reliable operation: low failure rate, key components such as kiln wheels, pallets and rotary device are made of high-strength materials, long life.
Operation Process of Kaolin Rotary Kiln
- Feeding preheating: kaolin raw materials are fed from the end of the kiln through the charging system, and exchanged with high temperature flue gas in the preheating zone of the kiln to remove most of the free water.
- Heating and calcination: with the rotation of the kiln body, the material moves slowly to the kiln head, and is heated to 900°C~1000°C in the calcination belt. At this time, the crystalline water in kaolin is completely driven out, and the crystal structure is transformed from kaolinite to metakaolinite or mullite, and the color change is produced.
- Clinker cooling: The calcined kaolin is sent to the cooling device to cool down quickly, so as to facilitate the subsequent packaging and transportation, and at the same time to improve the efficiency of heat recovery.
- Discharge and processing: The product is cooled and discharged by the discharge system, and can enter the grinding, grading or packaging section.
- The kiln itself is slightly tilted, relying on slow rotation and gravity, so that the material in the kiln spiral forward, while the full mixing and heat exchange to ensure uniform calcination.
Application Fields of Kaolin Rotary Kiln
- Paper industry: as a high-grade paper (such as coated paper, writing paper) filler and coating materials, to improve the gloss, whiteness and printing performance of paper.
- Ceramic industry: used in daily-use ceramics, construction ceramics, refractory materials, raw materials, to improve the strength and denseness of the body.
- Rubber and plastic products: as a functional filler to enhance the hardness, flame retardancy and stability of the material.
- Coatings and paints: Calcined kaolin can be used as high-performance white pigment or carrier to enhance the performance of paint film.
- Cable insulation materials: due to its excellent electrical insulation and thermal stability, it can be used in high voltage cable sheathing materials.
